Fights broke out between backers and opponents of President Donald Trump in New York City on Sunday during a Jews for Trump convoy of hundreds of cars, CBS News reported.

Some people had bloodied faces during the fracas, with one person taken away in a stretcher.

Seven people were arrested after several protesters threw objects at the vehicles and stole flags draped to the cars in the caravan. After someone allegedly shouted insults at his daughter with him in the car, one Trump supporter ran out of his vehicle after a protester, leading to a series of fights.

Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani briefly greeted backers from a car driving near Trump Tower during the parade, which started at Coney Island, rolled through Manhattan, and then headed to a rally in a Brooklyn park.

The rally was intended to show solidarity with "the beleaguered Red Zone community," according to the Jews for Trump website and comes after weeks of tensions in Brooklyn's Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods over the coronavirus restrictions designated by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Police said that two officers were injured in melees, according to the New York Post.

There were incidents reported throughout the caravan route, including four arrests in Times Square. These involved a protester who tried to stop an officer from arresting someone for taking a flag and others for throwing eggs, including at a policeman’s face.

Police said another demonstrator was also arrested for spraying pepper spray at a family driving inside a vehicle that took part in the caravan.
