After raising a record-breaking $114 million in the first half of the year, Jeb Bush's campaign is preparing for having far fewer dollars on hand in the coming weeks after a poor showing in Wednesday's third Republican presidential debate in Colorado.

Danny Diaz, Bush's campaign manager, acknowledged to staffers in a conference call that the former Florida governor had a bad week, one aide told Politico, while urging employees to remain committed to the cause.

There is a "broad sense of betrayal, disappointment and anger," one campaign source said as Bush staffers in Miami are now being asked to work for less pay and be reassigned to other states, according to the report.

Some had relocated to Florida from other states to work for the candidate.

Bush reported earlier this month that his campaign had raised $13.4 million in the third quarter, Politico reports, though it had only $10.3 million on hand heading into October.

That was less funds than Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and two other Bush rivals.

Top campaign officials are taking pay cuts, Politico reports — and Christine Ciccone, the chief operating officer, was let go on Friday. She handled logistics and was paid about $12,000 a month.

The latest conservation effort follows news reports last week that the Bush campaign was cutting salaries as it tries to improve the candidate's standing, particularly in early-voting states.
