Jason Miller, a senior adviser to former President Donald Trump, told Newsmax on Wednesday that the former president is "in a great mood" despite his ongoing legal troubles.
Trump's civil trial in New York on fraud allegations involving his company and his elder sons began on Monday morning. Miller, who has been alongside Trump during his trial, said that "President Trump has been in a great mood," during an interview on "Newsline," noting his strong performances in polls for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
He went on to note that it's "critical" that Trump attended the proceedings in-person to "shine a light" on the situation, criticizing Judge Arthur Engoron for ruling that Trump and his co-defendants were liable for fraud in a decision last week.
"The critical thing here is that because President Trump went to the courtroom — didn't have to, but he did to go and shine a light on what's going on — everybody is now awakened to the fact that this judge ... is basically trying to railroad this case through," Miller said.
He went on to say that New York Attorney General Letitia James "ran on and campaigned on 'get Trump,' and she sat there scowling ... that first day when she was in the courtroom. And I tell you, this case never should have been brought."
Miller said, "You can see just how politicized it's become here ... now we all got to see it. We all paid attention, too. Otherwise ... many in the media would like to sweep it under the rug."
