President-elect Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kusher, reportedly wants to unload his website, the Observer, amid speculation about his role in the new administration and a move to Washington, D.C.
According to the fashion industry trade paper Women's Wear Daily, Kushner, who bought what was then The New York Observer, a weekly newspaper, in 2006 for $10 million, has been quietly shopping the newspaper to potential buyers.
Company chairman and chief executive Joseph Meyer denied that Observer, which ceased print publication last month, was for sale, commenting: "As one of the fastest-growing businesses in all of digital media, we are constantly being approached by potential investors and partners," WWD reported.
One rumored potential buyer had been American Media Inc., the parent company to the National Enquirer, which Trump has praised in the past – and which took aim at Trump primary campaign opponent Sen. Ted Cruz, WWD reported.
Sources told the outlet, however, it was doubtful AMI would buy the newspaper.
Kushner, married to Trump's eldest daughter Ivanka, might be taking on the role of aide to Trump when he becomes president Jan. 20, and the couple are reportedly shopping for a house in Washington, D.C.
