Former FBI director James Comey says on a scale of 1 to 10, President Donald Trump ranks at the very bottom and is a humorless and egotistical commander in chief.
“I never saw him laugh and I had dinner alone with him for about an hour and a half,” Comey said in an interview with British talk radio station LBC.
“He talks nearly the entire time and it's about him telling you how great he is and seeking your affirmation. But there's no humor, which is deeply concerning in a leader.”
Asked by host Nick Ferrari to rate Trump on a scale of 1 to 10, Comey gave the commander in chief a 1. He ranked Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama with an 8.
Comey, who was fired by Trump last year and learned about his dismissal on TV, also blasted Trump’s now-reversed policy of separating immigrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border as “a shameful thing,"
"If there's any good in it, it may be awakening the American people to the way in which our values are being affected by this President," said Comey who is on a book tour for his new memoir "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership," published by Flatiron.
Comey said he believesd the United States has regressed in terms of racism and intolerance to the 1950s.
"We're in a period of reaction and pain and retrenchment. And we're led by someone who exploits that at the expense of the center of America, which is our values,” he said.
"But the good news is, we always get back on track. I live in a wonderful diverse country, which is often messy and bumpy. We make great progress, we then retrench, then we make great progress again. We will be ok."
Trump has trashed Comey as "the worst leader, by far, in the history of the FBI."
