MTV Host Ripped for Mocking Sessions' Asian-American Grandkids

MTV Host Ripped for Mocking Sessions' Asian-American Grandkids

Ira Madison

By    |   Tuesday, 10 January 2017 02:08 PM EST

Ira Madison, an MTV News host and writer, was blasted online after mocking the Asian-American grandchildren of Donald Trump's attorney general nominee, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., The Hill reports.

Madison is an African-American culture writer for MTV News and host of the channel's "Speed Dial," according to the Hill. In a series of tweets on Tuesday, he accused Sessions of using his grandchildren to escape from being labeled a racist.

The Washington Times reports that after being the target of widespread criticism, Madison deleted one racially charged tweet he posted about Sessions and his granddaughter.

"Sessions, sir, kindly return this Asian baby to the Toys 'R' Us you stole her from," Madison said, the Times reports. "Why is she a prop?"

The Hill reports CNN's Jake Tapper was one of those taking exception to Madison's comments.

The Hill also notes members of Session's family, including his four Asian-
American grandchildren were with him for the start of his confirmation hearing. His daughter, Ruth, is married to an Asian-American man.
