Former Democratic President Jimmy Carter has announced he will attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on Jan. 20 – but he is reportedly the only ex-president to RSVP so far.

According to Politico, 42nd President Bill Clinton and the nation's 43rd commander-in-chief George W. Bush are putting off their decisions.

Politico, citing an unnamed source, reported Clinton has been leaning toward skipping the event even as talks go on over whether former first lady Hillary Clinton would sit on the inauguration stage.

"It would be especially bad if the Clintons did not attend, because it seems like they do not support the transition of power," an unnamed Clinton donor told Politico. "It would be petty, they have to suck it up. [Hillary] has to go as a former first lady. She will sit prominently."

Spokesman Freddy Ford told Politico that George W. Bush will not announce whether he will attend until the new year, but an unnamed source said Bush is also weighing whether to show up.

Neither he nor his father, the nation's 41st president, George H.W. Bush endorsed Trump, who often mocked former Gov. Jeb Bush, R-Fla., throughout the GOP primary, Politico reported.

According to Politico, all former presidents are invited to attend the ceremony, but not all living presidents have consistently attended the ceremonies of their successors.
