Tuesday, 21 December 2010 12:52 PM EST

Here’s another case of incoming Republican House Freshmen doing well by doing good. A handful of them gave generous cash donations to fellow GOP candidates in need, Politico reports. “In the final weeks of the midterm elections, a group of all-but-certain GOP winners in conservative-oriented districts emptied their campaign accounts to funnel thousands of dollars to the National Republican Congressional Committee and to GOP candidates in competitive House races whose outcomes were still in doubt,” the news service states.

At least four GOP rookies donated to 14 or more candidates, and at least five sent $10,000 or more to the NRCC.

Some of the generous GOP newbies have received plumb committee assignments.

Arkansas Rep.-elect Steve Womack, who gave $50,000 to the NRCC and sent checks to 14 contenders, was assigned to the powerful Appropriations Committee.

Tennessee Rep.-elect Diane Black, who donated to 15 candidates, garnered a prized spot on the Ways and Means Committee.
