The conservative House Freedom Caucus intends to be involved early on during the tax reform process, and is already working on a bill to present in the House, Politico reported.

"We're looking at President [Donald] Trump's tax reform plan to see how we can maybe put some legislative text to that to come alongside the administration, and hopefully agree more than we disagree, and move what he proposed in those bullet points the other day," said Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C. the Freedom Caucus leader, per Politico. "We've got guys working on that."

Politico reported another Freedom Caucus member, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, prefers the group's bill not include the border adjustment import tax pushed by House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady, R-Texas.

"I think we're going to try to have a lot of different ideas, and hopefully we can have our input with Ways and Means," Meadows said, per Politico.

The Freedom Caucus agrees with the White House tax cuts should not require a pay-for, since economic growth should help cover some of the cost along with reduced federal spending, Politico reported. Brady and Ryan are offering pay-fors to offset the cuts, Politico reported.
