Hillary Clinton this week made light of her decision to forgo a government email and instead exclusively use a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state, the New York Post
During remarks at a Long Island fundraiser Monday where the Democratic candidate for president spoke about cybersecurity and the recent hacking of the White House computer system, Clinton joked that the incident never would have happened if "they had been using my server."
Her comments were made during the $2,700-per-person fundraiser held at the home of Nassau County, New York, Democratic Chair Jay Jacobs.
In April, CNN reported that Russian hackers
penetrated the White House computer system, gaining access to details of President Barack Obama’s real-time, nonpublic schedule in addition to non-classified emails.
Suspicious activity had been noticed dating to October, CNN reported.
An official told the network that Russian hackers had "owned the State Department system for months."
Revelations of Clinton’s use of her personal email account and server to conduct State Department business were disclosed during the ongoing investigation into Clinton’s knowledge of the killing of four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador, in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012.
