A Super PAC aimed at preventing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from becoming president launched an ad campaign hammering her role in the administration's handling of the Benghazi terrorist attack.
The 30-second ad by Stop Hillary PAC will appear online and on television and was released to coincide with the
first public hearing on Benghazi in the House, which started Wednesday,
according to The Washington Post.
It will run in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Iowa in an effort to target the first three presidential primary states, the group said.
The ad suggests Clinton was not being forthcoming about the causes of the Sept. 11, 2012, attack in its immediate aftermath, when the State Department developed a controversial set of talking points some say were designed to mislead the public.
The group's aim is that the ad will raise questions about Clinton's record in advance of a widely anticipated presidential bid in 2016.
The ad also encourages viewers to sign a "citizens subpoena" calling for Clinton to testify before the 12-member bipartisan committee.
"My No. 1 goal is to make sure that Hillary Clinton is not the next president of the United States," Colorado state Sen. Ted Harvey, the honorary chairman of Stop Hillary PAC, told the Post.
