There has been a lot of discussion between state legislators in Georgia concerning what the best direction will be to take with Monday and the Electoral College vote, and it would not be surprising to hear that there is a "significant number" who say that the presidential election tallies were not accurate, Rep. Jody Hice told Newsmax TV Saturday.
"I obviously have been in communication with a number of state legislators, both in the state House, as well as the Senate," the Georgia Republican said on Newsmax TV's "The Count." "(There are) a number of them who are deeply concerned with the election results."
The lawmakers, he continued, believe there have been "tremendous irregularities, if not tremendous fraud in this, and there's a lot of discussions."
Hice pointed out that he's not in the "inner circles" and not part of the state legislature, so it might be "premature" about what's taking place, but "it wouldn't surprise me at all if there is not a significant number who say that this election, as it currently stands, is not accurate."
Meanwhile, Georgia's Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, both Republicans, are under a great amount of fire over the ballot recounts that led to Joe Biden's being certified as the state's winner after a second recount, but Hice said the recount is not the issue.
"What people want is an accurate count," he said. "If you just keep recounting the old ballots without doing voter verification, without some of these other things to get to the bottom of potential fraud and irregularities, then it really doesn't do anything, and that's what the people of Georgia are upset about."
Hice noted he was stumping in Georgia on Saturday with Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, and they heard from "hundreds of people" who are "upset and rightfully so" about the results of the November election.
"They feel like the Georgia leaders have let them down and that they have not fought for an election that was absolutely secure and accurate," said Hice. "In spite of the fact that the secretary of state is saying this is the most accurate election in history, they know better than that, and at this point they want answers. They're not getting answers."
Meanwhile, Hice said it's important that Raffensperger takes action to ensure that the "disaster of Nov. 3" is not repeated, and that signature verification is in place for the ballots.
'The upcoming election of the senators is going to change the balance and direction of our entire of our country, not just in terms of the balance of power politically, but the balance of political philosophy ... this is literally the most important Senate election, I believe in the history, of our country."
