Herman Cain Unabashed in Views on Gays

Thursday, 09 June 2011 04:00 PM EDT

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain made his stance on homosexuality quite clear Wednesday when he described it as “a choice” and “a sin.” Cain made the remarks while speaking with political reporter Brian Montopoli on CBS News’ “Washington Unplugged.”

The Fox Business commentator and former Godfather’s Pizza CEO suggested that his brand of religion is not amenable to alternative lifestyles.

“I believe homosexuality is a sin because I’m a Bible-believing Christian,” he said.

Cain, 65, announced his White House bid last month during a speech in Atlanta. His platforms, which include returning to the gold standard and overhauling the federal tax system, make him a favorite among tea partiers.

“In case you accidentally listen to a skeptic or doubting Thomas out there, just to be clear . . . I'm running for president of the United States and I’m not running for second,” CBS News quoted him as saying.
