A white nationalist political action group is funding a pro-Donald Trump robocall push in Iowa, calling the front-running GOP presidential contender its "great white hope," reports say.
The call-campaign is being funded by the American National Super PAC, which was created by the chairman of the American Freedom Party, William Johnson, Talking Points Memo reports.
The news outlet also links to a news release about the launch of the campaign and its audio message.
the Trump campaign did not immediately comment about the campaign.
"This does have the potential to do some damage to Trump's standing in Iowa," RedState.com
blogger Leon Wolf writes.
"First, people hate getting robocalls and they tend to negatively view any candidate who supports them. Second, anyone who gets to the part where the redneck explains that we need 'smart white people' in this country is probably going to hang up in disgust before the disclaimer, and some non-trivial number of them will assume that Trump is behind this."
