Donald Trump on Friday tweeted out a warning to Ted Cruz, the one opponent he's not yet attacked, saying it looks like the Texas senator is getting ready to come after him — and he's ready for him.
His warning came out on Friday, reports
USA Today, after a
New York Times article reported that Cruz, who has repeated several times this week he would not be attacking Trump, had said at a private fundraiser that Trump is facing a "challenging question" concerning whether he has the "judgment" he'd need to be the president.
According to an
audio recording provided to The Times by a person who attended the Madison Avenue meeting along with about 70 other people, Cruz discussed the election, tying Trump in with Ben Carson.
"Both of them I like and respect," Cruz is heard saying in the recording. "I don't believe either one of them is going to be our president."
But Cruz was still aiming for peace on Friday afternoon, tweeting that a fight with Trump is just what the establishment Republicans want:
But Cruz has passed Trump in a
Monmouth University poll released earlier this week.
Trump wasn't taking Cruz' nice words at face value, and challenged Cruz on Friday to make his statements public:
