With control of the Senate up in the air for 2012, both Republicans and Democrats are working to draw Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn. (pictured), to their side of the chamber. “Along with other senior Democrats, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is quietly urging the Connecticut lawmaker to run for a fifth Senate term in 2012 — and to stick with the Democratic side of the aisle,” Politico reports. lieberman, dems, gop, wooTexas Sen. John Cornyn, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, says he’s having “friendly banter” with Lieberman about joining the GOP conference and running for the Republican nomination in 2012. Even conservative Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., who once said he’d rather have 30 truly conservative Senate Republicans than 60 who aren’t, says, “We’d love to have him.
