WASHINGTON (AP) — Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs will be defending President Barack Obama in New Hampshire as the Republican field gathers for an early presidential debate.
Campaign officials say Gibbs will be in New Hampshire on Monday to appear in network and local affiliate television interviews surrounding the Republican debate in Manchester, N H.
Even with about 17 months remaining before the 2012 election, Democrats are trying to define leading Republican presidential candidates while Obama's campaign ramps up its network of volunteers and call centers to re-engage voters.
Obama's handling of the economy, health care and wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya are expected to draw fire from the Republican field.
