Former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords will launch ads singling out over half a dozen GOP lawmakers for supporting an expansion to concealed carry laws, Politico reports.

This week, the House is set to vote on Concealed Carry Reciprocity, which if passed would make a gun licenses issued in one state valid in every other, thereby allowing gun owners to bypass state-specific requirements.

Giffords, a Democrat and former congresswoman, was shot in the ear nearly seven years ago by a gunman who killed six and wounded 18 when he attacked at an event for Giffords in January 2011. Giffords survived and went on to start an anti-gun advocacy group, Americans for Responsible Solutions.

"In the wake of our country's worst mass shooting, Congress came up with its most dangerous idea yet: nearly anyone with a hidden loaded gun would be allowed into your community. No background check? No training? No questions asked," a narrator says in the ad, according to Politico.

"Will Jason Lewis side with law enforcement, or the gun lobby?"

The ads will target: Reps. Rodney Frelinghuysen, R-N.J., Jason Lewis, R-Minn. Steve Knight, R-Calif., Ed Royce, R-Calif., Mimi Walters, R-Calif., Mike Coffman, R-Colo., Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., and Barbara Comstock, R-Va., each of whom is considered a vulnerable target by Democrats in the next election.

The three members of Congress from southern California also will face a radio ad.

"The ads call on voters to speak up about this dangerous bill and call on their leaders to put the safety of communities before the interests of the gun industry," said Peter Ambler, spokesman for Giffords, the group founded by the former congresswoman and her husband, Captain Mark Kelly.
