Gibbs and LaBolt Form Washington Consulting Firm

By    |   Thursday, 13 June 2013 02:38 PM EDT

Two former high-profile presidential aides are starting a consulting firm as they move to capitalize on their Washington experience and connections.

President Barack Obama's former press secretary, Robert Gibbs, and the press secretary for his 2012 re-election campaign, Ben LaBolt, announced Tuesday that they have created The Incite Agency, a Washington communications consulting firm.

The Incite Agency joins New Partners Consulting, another Democratic consulting firm, although Gibbs and LaBolt will have their own clients. They are joined by Adam Fetcher, a former Obama campaign aide, who will be managing director of Incite.

They say they are not going to work on campaigns. So far, they have a few corporate and nonprofit clients, Crain's Chicago Business reports.

According to new company's news release: "Incite's approach will build on the lessons Gibbs and LaBolt have learned managing complex communications challenges in today's news environment, where a tweet can be just as impactful as a news story."

Gibbs and LaBolt are not the first of Obama's aides to move from the White House or the campaign trail and establish their own consulting firms.

Former Obama deputy campaign managers Stephanie Cutter and Jen O'Malley — along with Teddy Goff, the 2012 digital director — announced in May that they were forming the consulting firm Precision Strategies, with Washington and New York offices. Jenni LeCompte, the former assistant secretary of the treasury for public affairs, and three other Obama campaign aides joined that firm.

LaBolt told the Huffington Post that they doe not plan to register as lobbyists. Their focus will be nonprofit organizations, corporations, and political causes.
