Fox News should fire host Sean Hannity for not revealing he was a client of President Donald Trump's personal attorney while reporting on stories about him, Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., told CNN on Monday.
"I think he is so into this like a pig in the mud he can't get out of it, and I think he deserves to be fired," Connolly said. "His word can never again be trusted."
Michael Cohen's attorneys Monday revealed Hannity as the third unnamed client of Cohen's, a disclosure that came as Cohen's attorneys tried to persuade a federal judge in New York to delay prosecutors from examining material seized in FBI raids of Cohen's home and office last week on the grounds many of them are protected by client-attorney privilege.
Hannity, one of Trump's most vocal on-air defenders and a critic of FBI special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, said Cohen never represented him "in any matter."
"I never retained him in any traditional sense," Hannity said. "I never received an invoice. I never paid a legal fee. I had brief discussions with him about legal questions where I wanted his input and perspective."
