A German TV feed of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross' speech in Berlin was cut off midstream.
Bloomberg reports Ross' address on Tuesday was faded out "after about 20 minutes for overstepping his time limit." He had been speaking at an event organized by the Christian Democratic Union, German Chancellor Angela Merkel's party, which ended the video feed.
The interruption unscored how "German patience with attacks on the country's trade surplus is fraying," according to Bloomberg.
After Ross finished, Werner Bahlsen, head of the CDU Economic Council, told the audience: "That was the U.S. secretary of commerce, who had promised us a 10-minute statement. As you saw, he spoke a bit slowly, so it took a bit longer. Now we look forward to the chancellor's speech."
