George Conway, the husband of presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway and a frequent critic of President Donald Trump, dared him to testify in the impeachment inquiry and asked him if he was "afraid."
"@realDonaldTrump, why don’t *you* testify?" Conway said on Twitter Sunday. "Are you afraid, as you were with Mueller, that your stable genius couldn’t withstand cross-examination under oath? If the call with Zelensky was so “perfect,” what’s there to be afraid of? Why are you so weak and scared?"
His dare to Trump came after the president Saturday tweeted that he wants to see House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Adam Schiff, former Vice President Joe Biden, and others to publicly testify in the Democrats' continuing impeachment inquiry.
“I recommend that Nervous Nancy Pelosi (who backed up Schiff’s lie), Shifty Adam Schiff, Sleepy Joe Biden, the Whistleblower (who miraculously disappeared after I released the transcript of the call), the 2nd Whistleblower (who also disappeared), & the I.G., be part of the list!” Trump tweeted.
Pelosi and Schiff, who chairs of the House Intelligence Committee, are leading the impeachment inquiry as it heads into public hearings this week.
Also on Saturday, House Republicans presented a list of witnesses they want to appear before the House Intelligence Committee in the public hearings, including the anonymous whistleblower whose report sparked the impeachment inquiry and Biden's son Hunter.
