Democratic congressmen took to Twitter Sunday to compare President Donald Trump's administration to the HBO TV series "Game of Thrones," according to HuffPost.
The Emmy-winning drama series, which began its seventh season Sunday night, depicts families engaging in political intrigue over a fictional fantasy kingdom.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., drew comparisons between the show and recent issues such as the Russia investigation.
Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif. referenced "collusion" in discussing the TV show.
On Monday after the "Game of Thrones" premiere, Michael Ahrens, Republican National Committee spokesman, also noted some similarity between the show's seven families and Washington politics.
"Dems make the Seven Kingdoms look united," Ahrens wrote in an email to reporters that criticized Democrats, HuffPost reported.
"Just like we saw last night, expect things to get a whole lot worse for Democrats before they get any better," Ahrens wrote.
The Washington Post on Friday noted the show's political undertones. George R.R. Martin, the show's creator, compared Trump to petulant villain Joffrey.
"I think Joffrey is now the king in America," Martin told Esquire in May.
