Preteen Band Sues Trump Campaign for Reimbursement

A Florida father who manages the pro-Donald Trump girl group "USA Freedom Kids" wants to sue the GOP nominee's campaign for reneging on a verbal deal with the preteen patriots, reports say.

Jeff Popick, whose daughter Alexis leads the group and who wrote "Freedom's Call" — a song performed at Jan. 13 Trump rally in Pensacola, Fla., and promptly became an Internet sensation — claims the campaign made promises that never materialized in exchange for performances — including providing a booth at a rally to sell albums.

"This is not a billion-dollar lawsuit," Popick tells the Washington Post.

"I'm doing this because I think they have to do the right thing. And if this means having to go through the court system to enforce them doing the right thing, then that's what I have to do. I'm not looking to do battle with the Trump campaign, but I have to show my girls that this is the right thing."

According to Popick, the group was promised a booth at the Pensacola, Florida rally during their break-through performance to pre-sell their album.

"That never materialized," he tells Time.com.

"We did, but they didn’t."

The campaign then asked the girls to perform during a campaign event in Des Moines, Iowa, and Popick said he paid out-of-pocket for the traveling expenses. But when the group arrived, the girls were told they weren’t going to perform.

"We got to Des Moines and their plan quote-unquote changed and we were told to just sit in the audience," he tells Time.

"I’ve asked and asked them for many months to make it right, and they haven’t, and if that means going the legal route, then so be it," he adds.

According to the Post, the group's album is due out in early September. But "Freedom's Call" – which included the line "President Donald Trump knows how to make America great" – won't be on it.
