Communications between Michael Flynn, President Trump’s national security adviser, and Russia have been investigated by U.S. counterintelligence agencies, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.

There is no information as to whether that query produced incriminating evidence or if it will continue, the WSJ reports. Flynn is the first person in the Trump administration to be investigated.

Washington’s lawmakers have called for a bipartisan investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election. Last Thursday, the New York Times reported that American law enforcement and intelligence agencies were investigating wiretapped communications between Russia and Trump's associates, with Paul Manafortthe president's former campaign chairman, among them.

Flynn made phone calls to Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the United States, on Dec. 29, the same day the Obama administration announced sanctions against Russia.
