Conservative blogger Erick Erickson still would like to see a third-party alternative to presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, but he did have good words to say about Trump's national security speech delivered on Monday.
Writing at his website,
The Resurgent, Erickson gave Trump kudos for avoiding saying he would ban Muslims entirely, instead focusing only on trouble regions with known terrorist activity.
"Trump, on a TelePrompter, is manageable," Erickson writes. "Everyone continues to worry about what happens when he goes off script, but on script he really wasn’t that bad."
Erickson also was happy with Trump revoking the press credentials of The Washington Post after the newspaper initially ran a headline on its website implying that Trump accused President Barack Obama of being a Muslim terrorist sympathizer.
"Look, let’s be honest. Donald Trump is a 9/11 truther," Erickson writes. "It is not unreasonable to think, given that, that he also believes President Obama is a closet muslim sleeper cell of one hell bent on American destruction. But Trump never said it."
That said, Erickson says, "I couldn’t care less for Donald Trump. I will not vote for the man."
