Eric Trump: Media 'Lost Their Minds' Questioning My Father's Health

Eric Trump: Media 'Lost Their Minds' Questioning My Father's Health

By    |   Wednesday, 17 January 2018 10:20 AM EST

Members of the press "lost their minds" when questioning Navy Rear Adm. Dr. Ronny Jackson about President Donald Trump's health, the president's son, Eric Trump, said Wednesday.

"My father has never had a sip of alcohol in his life," Trump told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program.

"He never had a cigarette in his life. He has one of the cleanest lifestyles. He talks about this sometimes . . . the press, the have lost their minds."

Jackson, the president's military physician, told members of the media Tuesday that Trump passed his physical and cognitive tests with high marks.

However, there were many questions about the president's mental status, how much he exercises, and the kinds of foods he eats.

"Think about the question, does he eat ice cream?" said Trump. "Where is the coverage of the economy? Where is the coverage of unemployment being the lowest ever? Consumer confidence being highest ever, with 4 percent GDP growth…. talking about how many scoops of ice cream. Jonathan Karl asking, does he eat McDonald's."

Such questions, Trump said, are "trivial" and "nonsense."

"People are smart," said Trump. "People look through this, right? People see one thing. They see green in their wallets. That is what people care about. They care about the 401(k)s. They care about their kids, their education, how they're living. Vacations they get to go on. The businesses is doing. If they're employed? Overall quality of life. They don't care if somebody has a scoop of ice cream."

Trump said his father also has "more energy than any human being. The guy has more energy than anybody I ever met at my age at 35. He is unbelievable. He doesn't stop. He is an absolute machine. I was saying this last night. I have never seen my father with a cold."

The president's son said that his father is "having a great time" in office.

"When I say his spirits are high, that is an understatement," said Trump. "He is having a great time. He is doing an unbelievable job. The proof is in the pudding, nonsense and chatter and little sound bites and sensational reporting. He is doing an unbelievable job."

However, Trump said he does not talk much to his father about government, as he keeps a "very strict wall there."

"He is doing a phenomenal job," said Trump. "Everybody I see on the street telling me what a great job he is doing for them. He is doing a great job for the country. He is delivering promises."

He also denied claims that his father is a racist, which were spurred again last week through reports from an Oval Office meeting to discuss a deal on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

"My father sees one color, green," said Trump. "That is all he cares about. He cares about the economy. He is the least racist person I ever met in my entire life."
