Eric Trump, son of the presumptive Republican nominee, said that what motivated his father to run for the White House was that he was tired of seeing the United States being taken advantage of all the time.
Speaking on
"The Cats Roundtable" Sunday radio show on AM 970 New York hosted by John Catsimatidis, Eric Trump said “I’m the farthest thing from a politician, but I am an American, and I see what’s happening out there and it’s the very reason my father is running. He’s tired of seeing us being taken advantage of, he’s tired of seeing us used, he’s tired of seeing currencies of other countries being manipulated and us losing.”
Citing corruption as one of the main vices squandering away so much of what makes America great, Eric Trump slammed the Clinton family, saying that while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state she and former President Bill Clinton made $114 million.
"Here's a person who's supposed to be going around the world representing the United States' interests," he said. "It's abuse of power. It's corruption within government."
Reflecting on recent terrorist attacks in the U.S., Trump cited security as one of the main issues critical to his father’s vision of improving the country.
"Someone has to take the fight to ISIS, someone has to be able to point out radical Islamic terrorism, which our president, for whatever reason isn't willing to say and neither is Hillary. It's years of her foreign policy that that created the problem. We have destabilized the entire Middle East."
Trump also touched on another of his father's favorite themes, accusing the media of intentional bias and being one of the least respected institutions in the countries. He criticized The Washington Post for a recent story claiming his father donated only $10,000 to charities over seven years, far less than he had pledged, saying, "It was such a disgusting article, and that's The Washington Post, and that's their M.O., unfortunately. Every article is just a pure kill job."
