French President Emmanuel Macron forced his way through the crowd of other world leaders at the G-20 summit Friday to take up position next to President Donald Trump during the group photo.
As seen in the above video posted by The Telegraph, Macron — who shared a lengthy handshake with Trump at a NATO gathering in May — left his spot and worked his way over to Trump.
Macron seemed to be lost in the crowd at one point, but someone standing in front of the group pointed him in the right direction. When he reached Trump, who was standing on the left side of the front row, the two men shook hands and smiled.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the host of the Hamburg, Germany meeting, seemed confused as to what Macron was doing and watched her European colleague reposition himself next to Trump.
Photos taken after Macron's move showed a gap in the top row where he once stood.
Macron invited Trump to attend Bastille Day celebrations in Paris on July 14, which Trump accepted.
