Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Tom Carper, D-Del., want the Office on Government Ethics to provide details how Ivanka Trump will comply with federal ethics rules, The Hill is reporting.
In a letter to the Office of Government Ethics, the two lawmakers said Ivanka's "increasing, albeit unspecified, White House role ... (has) resulted in substantial confusion.
"We write today to request information about the ethics rules that President Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, will be required to comply with, or has indicated she will voluntarily comply with, in her role as an adviser to the president."
The senators want to know how OGE will make certain she complies with ethics rules and who, if anyone, was involved in deciding what role she would play in the White House, according to the website.
Politico reported Ivanka is expanding her unofficial White House role and has applied for a security clearance to accommodate her duties. She has already been given her own office in the West Wing of the White House, the website reported.
Politico noted her expanding role is unprecedented and has raised questions about which ethics rules apply. The website said the two senators are asking whether the White House has requested or received guidance from the OGE about her role.
