Although Donald Trump is in his weakest political position of the entire campaign just before the third and final presidential debate, the outlook in several key battleground states leaves open the possibility that the Republican candidate can still mount a comeback less than three weeks before Election Day, CNN reports.
Most recent national polls show Hillary Clinton’s lead nationally to be in the high single digits, and the movement in battleground states recently has been favorable to her as well.
But the most recent CNN polls in several battleground states show that Trump is barely edging out Clinton in Ohio and is just a percentage point or two behind her in both North Carolina and Nevada.
If Trump can take all three of those states, Clinton would still have slightly more than the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House, but it would significantly narrow the gap and possibly give the Republican nominee momentum as the campaign heads to the home stretch.
