Nixon's Son-in-Law: Party of Nixon, Reagan Will Push Trump to Victory

("The Cats Roundtable"/AM 970 The Answer)

New York State GOP Chairman Ed Cox Sunday lauded GOP nominee Donald Trump as a "political genius" and compared today's Republican Party to the one his father-in-law, late President Richard Nixon, built.

"In many ways, this is the Republican Party that Richard Nixon built," Cox, who married Nixon's daughter Tricia, told radio show host John Catsimatidis on his program, "The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970 in New York.

"[This is] the Republican Party that elected Ronald Reagan president of the United States," Cox continued in the brief interview. "The Reagan Democrats are coming back. The Silent Majority is coming back and reinvigorating the Republican Party this year to elect Donald Trump president of the United States.

Americans are "as mad as hell" at Washington, Congress, and the Senate, and Trump represents those voters, Catsimatidis told Cox.

However, Cox replied, it's the president who bears the responsibility for the country, said Cox, and it's "time for change" from the policies of President Barack Obama and his ex-secretary of state, presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

"It's time for change," said Cox, who as the leader of the New York GOP was front and center at last week's party convention, representing Trump's home state of New York. "Donald Trump is the agent for change."

Cox, who has been a party power player for decades, said he does not have any advice for Trump moving forward, as the nominee already has "superb political skills" as shown by how far he's come despite having never run for public office before.
