Former Rep. Doug Ose, R-Calif., touted his push for a proposed ballot measure to block efforts to give non-citizens the right to vote in California.
The move came after San Francisco removed citizenship status as a requirement for voting in school board elections
“The state’s constitution in California defines who can vote, but it does not say who cannot vote,” Ose said Friday during an interview on Fox News's “Fox & Friends.”
“I'm attempting to implement a statute that defines who cannot vote as being non-citizens -- thereby clarifying the problem.
“What I’m trying to do is say no, they are not citizens. They are not entitled to vote.”
He will have to collect 365,880 valid voter signatures to get the change placed on the 2020 statewide ballot, the Los Angeles Times reported.
