The bickering and attacks on President Donald Trump are misplaced, counterproductive, self-serving politicization, and not helping Americans, according to Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., on Newsmax TV.
"For anyone that is continuing to attack what he says and how he says it, and going back on things like that, really they need to take a self-assessment," Collins told Wednesday's "The Chris Salcedo Show."Are they really helping themselves or are they helping America?"
The focus should not be on attacks but lawmakers helping their communities against the coronavirus pandemic as the president and experts work to "flatten this curve out," according to Collins.
"It's time to stop," Collins said. "The hatred of this president is just amazing to me. I've had to live through it for the last year and a half of the sham impeachment, the Mueller investigation, and just the attacks that came from the corrupt cabal.
"They need to get over that and realize that our country has a crisis. The president is dealing with that crisis."
As for the Senate aid package, Collins, who has completed his self-quarantine with a clean bill of health after having contacts with confirmed cases, remains concerned the government is throwing money around without directing it to focused purposes.
"I want us to make sure we're putting aid where it needs to be," he concluded.
