President Donald Trump says he's "signed more legislation than anybody," breaking the record of Harry Truman — an assertion that's "false," fact-checking website Politifact reported Friday.
According to Politifact, in his first 100 days, Trump did sign the most bills of any president since Truman.
But the pace has fallen off the cliff since then, Politifact reported.
With just days before the end of his first calendar year in office, Trump ranks last among the 10 post-war presidents who began their term on the regular cycle, Politifact reported.
The website gave Trump's Dec. 27 statement a ranking of "false."
Another report by Govtrack.com, a website that collects congressional and other government data, also disputed the president's statement.
"Trump has sunk to last place with 94 bills signed into law by his 336th day in office," concluded the website' report.
"That's eight fewer than President George W. Bush and not even half as many as presidents Bill Clinton (209) and George H.W. Bush (242)."
Trump has signed two bills the day since that report, including a major tax bill.
Through Dec. 28, Trump had signed 96 and the younger Bush had signed 109, Joshua Tauberer, the founder of Govtrack.us, told Politifact.
Trump's statement "is wrong no matter how you try to repair it," Tauberer told Politifact.
