Trump Vows to 'Punch Through' 'Dishonest' Media

Donald Trump went on a Twitter and campaign-trail rampage against the media Monday, blasting CNN as "The Clinton News Network," hinting he might ban reporters from the New York Times and calling the Washington Post "not good."

At a campaign rally in Harrisburg, Pa., Trump vowed to "punch through the media. We have to."

A video of the remarks was posted by Real Clear Politics.

"We have a media that is so dishonest," he said. "These are among the most dishonest people you will ever, ever meet."

"The New York Times is totally dishonest," he said. "I call it 'The Failing The New York Times.' Every story that they write is a hit job…but it will be out of business soon. I hope."

Then at town hall in Columbus, Ohio, Monday afternoon, Trump hinted he'd slap a ban on the newspaper's reporters like he did with the Washington Post in June, Politico reports.

"It’s gotten a little better," he said about the Post's coverage. "I should do it with the Times."

He was especially tough on CNN, however, blasting the network in Harrisburg and at a rally in Columbus, Ohio.

"So they are so biased toward Crooked Hillary," Trump told the Harrisburg event. "You know they call it: CNN, Clinton News Network. CNN. Clinton News Network. Totally dishonest. But hopefully a lot of people aren't watching it."

In Columbus, he warned of his own boycott of CNN, saying he's "not doing their shows," Mediaite reports.

"It may be the Clinton News Network, but nobody wants to watch Hillary," he said. "All day long it’s Trump… They’ve been asking me to go on for months. I won’t do their shows. And the reason I won’t is because it’s so dishonest. Until they straighten up, I’m not doing their shows."

Mediaite notes the trash-talking followed CNN anchor Brian Stelter calling out a Trump surrogate – a transcript was posted by Media Matters – and Fareed Zakaria calling Trump a "bull---- artist."

Trump's anti-CNN tirade much earlier Monday on Twitter – and stretched out through the day.
