Donald Trump's national spokeswoman took to CNN on Wednesday to clarify the presumptive GOP nominee's position on Muslims entering the U.S.
According to Politico, Katrina Pierson made it clear that the ban on Muslims doesn't extend to those whose intentions are known.
"It all depends on if we know their intentions," Politico quoted Pierson telling CNN. "I'm not quite sure why people don't understand this concept."
As long as the U.S. "knows who they are, knows where they're coming from, if they have documents, then yes, those are individuals that could come to this country," Pierson said.
Trump told the New York Times that new London mayor, Sadiq Khan, would be permitted into the U.S.
Exceptions exist, Trump told the newspaper.
But Pierson was adamant that Muslims wishing to travel to the U.S. on a tourist visa, for example, likely would be subject to the ban.
"Mr. Trump is talking about those individuals that don't have a background, that don't have a history and don't know where they are coming from and intentions for that matter," Pierson said. "We cannot just continue to allow this influx of immigrants into this country without knowing what their intentions are."
