Donald Trump Jr. sent out a sarcastic tweet to mock The New York Times on its report he and others in his father's presidential campaign met with a Russian lawyer connected to the Kremlin last summer.
The lawyer allegedly enticed them with negative information about Hillary Clinton.
A short while later, Trump Jr. sent out another tweet defending himself against accusations by the Times saying, in less than 24 hours, he gave two different explanations about why he met with the lawyer.
The meeting with the Russian lawyer, which also was attended by Paul Manafort, Trump's campaign manager at the time, and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, has caused more headaches for the Trump administration.
Fox News reported Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, a senior member on the Senate Intelligence Committee, wants the panel to question him about the meeting.
Collins told reporters "our intelligence committee needs to interview him and others who attended the meeting" as part of the committee's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion between Russian officials and the Trump campaign.
