Trump Rips Cruz in First Speech Since Wisconsin Primary Loss

Donald Trump said nothing Wednesday about his big loss in Wisconsin the day before, but he slammed Ted Cruz so bitterly in his first speech since the primary that supporters in New York at one point chanted his negative moniker for the Texas senator: "Lyin' Ted."

"He is lyin' Ted," the Republican front-runner told supporters at a rally in Bethpage, N.Y. on Long Island. "I came up with the idea.

"But you have to spell it right: It's 'L-Y-I-N-' Ted," Trump instructed.

"The Bible held high. He puts it down and then he lies. The wonderful thing: He lies like crazy. But most of the time, I win the evangelical vote. The evangelicals."

Trump, who never used Cruz's full name during his speech, said that Cruz could not attract 100 people at a campaign event in the Bronx.

"Lyin' Ted Cruz came today," he told the crowd. "He couldn't draw 100 people."

The crowd then booed.

"He couldn't draw 100 people."

Trump also bashed Cruz for attacking his "New York values" earlier in the campaign.

"Do you remember during the debate when he started lecturing me on New York values, like we are no good?" Trump asked, spurring boos from the crowd.

"And I started talking to him about the World Trade Center, the bravery, the incredible bravery of everybody — our police, our firemen, our everybody?"

The audience cheered, then began chanting "U.S.A."

"You better believe it," Trump said, acknowledging the applause before continuing.

"I looked at him and started talking about our incredible police, our incredible firefighters — our incredible people, our unbelievable construction workers.

"Who could have done that? Who could have rebuilt that? There was never anything like it in this country.

"The worst attack in the history of the United States," Trump said of the 9/11 assaults.
"The bravery that was shown was incredible. We all lived through it.

"We all know people that died. And I have got this guy standing over there looking at me talking about New York values with scorn in his face.

"With hatred. With hatred of New York."

More boos.

"So, folks, I think you can forget about him," Trump said.
