Hillary Clinton has insulted American women by comparing Republican presidential candidates to "terrorist groups" because of their views on abortion, Rep. Diane Black tells Newsmax TV.

"Women don't want to be told by somebody like Hilary Clinton that because they believe in something that is compassionate, they'll be on the right side of history," Black, a Tennessee Republican, said Friday to John Bachman on "Newsmax Now."

"'Terrorists.' What kind of language are we getting to these days where if you don't believe in what someone else believes then they're considered to be terrorists? I'm insulted by it and a lot of women are insulted by that as well."

The Huffington Post reported that at a campaign event Thursday in Ohio, Clinton, the Democratic frontrunner, said:

"Now extreme views on women, we expect that from some of the terrorist groups, we expect that from people who don't want to live in the modern world, but it's a little hard to take coming from Republicans who want to be the president of the United States. Yet they espouse out-of-date, out-of-touch policies. They are dead wrong for 21st-century America."

Clinton singled out former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for saying Planned Parenthood should be defunded, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio for saying he won't back exceptions to an abortion ban for rape and incest victims, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who banned state funds for rape crisis centers because they may refer clients to abortion clinics, according to the Post.

Black believes Clinton is trying to "do everything she can to distract" voters from her own problems, such as her use of a private email account and server during her term as secretary of state in the Obama administration.

"[She wants to] take people's eyes off of what is being exposed in her activity as secretary of state and doing this is not going to help her at all. We're seeing that in the polls," Black said.

The women's health issue is something Clinton has "played all along," according to Black.

"Decent compassionate human beings on both sides of pro-life and pro-choice are looking at what the abortion bill is doing, Planned Parenthood, and these baby parts — and she's now calling the folks who believe this is wrong … a terrorist. It's despicable," she said.

Asked if she believes Clinton will become the Democratic presidential nominee, Black told Bachman:

"The way things are looking right now, there may be a question with that. Especially with her polls showing that she's behind [Sen.] Bernie Sanders and that's very interesting."

"Now, [Vice President Joe] Biden is looking into coming into the race, so Hillary is pushed against the wall and as a result of that she's playing gutter politics."
