Hillary Clinton is working out the details of how and when to organize a presidential campaign – and a formal bid reportedly is likely in the spring.

According to The Washington Post, the former secretary of state and her aides are deciding whether to cut ties with outside groups that support her —Ready for Hillary, Priorities USA, and Correct the Record have all been compiling lists of supporters and fundraising on her behalf — so as not to run afoul of rules preventing coordination between a campaign and outsider groups.

If and when she tosses her hat in the ring, Clinton's campaign wouldn't be able to share strategic information with allies outside the campaign and the Democrat Party, the Post notes.

She's also debating whether to set up an exploratory committee ahead of a formal announcement — though it seems unnecessary for such an established candidate, according to the Post.

"At this point, what would she be exploring?" one strategist with ties to Clinton told the Post.

Rather than announce in January, as she did in 2007, Clinton insiders believe an official announcement of her candidacy won't come until spring, the Post reports.

The only official 2016 candidate so far is former Democratic Sen. Jim Webb of Virginia, who formed an exploratory committee last month.

The Post report adds further evidence that Clinton plans to run despite her public statements that she hasn't made up her mind — and a schedule of paid speeches booked for as late as March, The Hill notes.

"There is quite a consensus that she would not be giving these paid speeches once she becomes a candidate, and that is appropriate," one Clinton friend told the Post.
