The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $11.3 million in April — the worst month of fundraising for the group this year.
The Hill reported the DCCC’s fundraising efforts are feeling the impact of the coronavirus outbreak. The DCCC raised $17 million in February but dropped down to $14.3 million in March.
Still, the DCCC has brought in $179 million for this election cycle — an increase from the $151 million it had raised by this point in the 2018 cycle, according to The Hill.
“Our grassroots supporters have always been the motor of House Democrats’ success,” said Rep. Cheri Bustos, D-Ill., chairperson of the DCCC. "But they’ve really stepped on the gas as they’ve watched Washington Republicans’ flat-footed response to this crisis.”
“With millions of Americans struggling right now, the fact that we surpassed our previous record is a testament to our grassroots donors digging deep, signing up for volunteer shifts, and doing everything they can to put Washington Republicans in the rearview.”
CBS News reported the Trump campaign, along with the Republican National Committee raised $61.7 million in April, compared to the Biden campaign and Democratic National Committee, which brought in a combined $60.5 million.
