It's really the Democrats who are afraid of Hillary Clinton, not the Republicans as claimed by Clinton family confidant Lanny Davis, says Daniel Halper, online editor of The Weekly Standard.
On
Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Monday, Davis, a Washington lawyer who was special counsel to President Bill Clinton, said Republicans incessantly talk about Hillary Clinton because they're afraid of her expected 2016 presidential run.
"What's very amusing is the number of Republicans that are mentioning Hillary Clinton as being harmed by the [midterm] election. You think they're worried? I mean, do you think?" Davis said. "They can't take their eyes or minds or voices off Hillary Clinton."

But Halper, — author of
"Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine," published by Broadside Books — says it's Davis who may be terrified of Clinton, along with the rest of the Democratic base.
"I can't help but think that perhaps it's Lanny who's projecting a little and he's the one who's scared of his dear friend Hillary," Halper told host Steve Malzberg on the same show Tuesday.
"There's a lot of people who have put a lot of hopes on Hillary Clinton, and those are all Democrats. There's a little fear among Democrats.
"Hillary is still the prohibitive favorite, there's no question, but she's no shoo-in. She's going to have to win the nomination of her party, which will not be likely as easy as those people are suggesting.
The former secretary of state under President Barack Obama would then have to win a general election coming off 2014, he added.
"[2014] was not a good year for Democrats at all. Democrats themselves are a little fearful of the outlook right now," Halper said.
"The map has changed a little bit in how it doesn't look as promising for them as it did even six months ago."
