Dana Loesch Lauds National Guard Presence on US-Mexico Border

(Fox News/"Fox & Friends")

Dana Loesch, spokeswoman for the National Rifle Association, said Thursday that it's "refreshing" to see the National Guard assisting U.S. Border Patrol agents.

Border Patrol agents "need the Department of Justice to back them up," Loesch said on Fox News' "Fox & Friends."

"They were thrilled when the president was sending National Guard to the border because they needed the help. To see the amount of area these guys got to cover, is amazing."

She added, "It is incredibly refreshing" to see "someone upholding the law and respecting the sovereignty of the United States."

"Now we're finally starting to see movements towards this. I, with knowing so many people who live bit border and also, doesn't even matter if you're by the border. This is an interior problem as well.

"I'm so happy to see the administration address this and finally crack down, because, look, there is a process to enter the country. If you want to enter the country you have to go through the legal process just like every one else does, period."

Loesch also discussed the NRA convention taking place in Dallas, Texas this week, and the plans to have President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence address the audience. She did not discuss the controversy over the fact that attendees will not be allowed to carry guns during their speeches because the U.S. Secret Service would not allow it.

Trump "is going to be addressing the group on Friday," Loesch said. "The president made his announcement a little later this week he was going to be joining all of these law-abiding gun owners in Dallas, Texas."
