Crossroads GPS to Spend $25 Million on Economy Ad Against Obama

The conservative interest group Crossroads GPS is spending $25 million to broadcast a TV ad about the economy against President Barack Obama in eight key swing states.

The ad starts with a narrator saying, “America’s jobless rate is still too high. Barack Obama has a lot of excuses for the bad economy.” Then the ad plays audio clips of Obama citing those reasons:

• “Headwinds coming from Europe"
• “We’ve had a string of bad luck"
• “An earthquake in Japan"
• “An ATM: you don’t go to a bank teller"
• “Some things we couldn’t control"
• “You go to the airport and you use a kiosk"
• “We’ve been a little lazy over the last couple decades.”

Then the narrator concludes: “But Obama never blames Washington’s wild spending and skyrocketing debt. Tell Obama: for real job growth, cut the debt. Support the New Majority Agenda at NewMajorityAgenda.org.”

The ad is titled "Excuses" and will run from July 10 through the beginning of August in Florida, Iowa, Colorado, North Carolina, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia, reports Politico.

“We’re suffering through one of the weakest economic recoveries in our history, and the only thing President Obama is offering is slogans and excuses,” said GPS president Steven Law, according to Politico. “People are hungering for practical solutions to our skyrocketing debt and flat-lined economy, and that’s what we are putting forward in our New Majority Agenda.”
