The American Action Network, a conservative group allied with House Speaker Paul Ryan, is buying TV ad time on Spanish-language networks to promote Republican plans to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

The ad, in Spanish, includes a female announcer saying: "Imagine a new path forward. Health insurance that provided more choices and better care, at lower costs. A systems that puts patients and doctors in charge.

"Provides peace of mind to people with preexisting conditions. Paves the way for new cures by eliminating senseless regulations. House Republicans have a plan to get there, without disrupting existing coverage, giving your family the health care it deserves."

The Washington Post reports the ad will air during newscasts, soap operas, and sports on Univision and Telemundo affiliates in areas where House Republicans seek the votes of growing Hispanic populations.

Those areas include Sacramento and Fresno, California, Washington, D.C., Denver, and San Antonio, The Post reports.

"We know that Spanish-language media will not assist conservatives the way they did President Obama during the past eight years, so we want to ensure all Americans — in English and Spanish — know that Republicans have a replacement plan to achieve quality care at a lower cost," an American Action Network official told The Post.

Camilo Pino, a spokesman for Telemundo News, responded: "We have covered the Affordable Care Act as we have covered all issues of interest to the Hispanic community: in a fair and objective way and showing all relevant points of view."

In an interview Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump said his healthcare plan will have "insurance for everybody."

Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-Calif., told The Hill that an Obamacare repeal would harm Latino families.

"We want to make sure that people who have diabetes, asthma, obesity no longer are discriminated against and face being denied health insurance or having to pay more health insurance," Ruiz said.

"All those things we need to protect are on the chopping block with repealing the entirety of the Affordable Care Act."
