The Congressional Black Caucus PAC has been "spending big" on expensive hotels, event tickets and other places, according to The Washington Free Beacon, which questions whether the group has strayed from its stated mission.

According to campaign finance filings, as reported by the Center for Responsive Politics, last year, the PAC spent $325,700 on administration, $234,000 on fundraising, and gave $56,000 in political contributions to candidates. Of that, the PAC spent $36,510 on tickets and catering for a fundraising event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in February, $4,000 at the W Hotel, and $4,800 at restaurant Perch LA.

The group also spent $33,400 at the Conrad New York, a hotel in Lower Manhattan, $3,100 at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway, and $6,000 to both the New York Stock Exchange and 48 Lounge for catering. Additional expenses include $22,000 to District Winery in Washington, D.C. to rent their facilities, $6,000 to a Chicago hotel, and $2,500 to a limousine service.

The Free Beacon also reported on the PAC’s spending in March of last year, writing that the group "spends lavishly on upscale resorts and hotels, catering at exclusive restaurants, and on fundraising and Broadway tickets, according to a review of campaign finance records."

The PAC did not respond to the Free Beacon’s request for comment.
