President Donald Trump defended his record over the last four years in a new column, saying he deserves a second term in office so America can "continue the record of prosperity that my administration delivered."

Writing for Fox News, Trump said his administration has been successful at adding jobs and keeping Americans safe, and noted that he signed into law the 2017 tax cuts.

"My administration has delivered safety, prosperity and opportunity for all Americans by keeping our promises and implementing an America First agenda to support working people and their families over the past four years," Trump wrote.

"The American people deserve so much more than what the Democratic ticket has to offer in this election. After enduring eight disastrous years of the Obama-Biden mess, the nation deserves to enjoy eight full years of growth and economic prosperity under my administration."

Trump defended his record on jobs, saying the nation has added in excess of 7 million jobs since he took office in 2017.

The president discussed the coronavirus pandemic in several paragraphs, claiming his administration set up the country for recovery after what he referred to as the "China virus" came to the U.S. earlier this year.

"My administration's policies put America in a position to recover quickly from the unforeseen and unprecedented pandemic from China," he wrote. "Despite the challenges presented by the China virus, we did all we could to help see hardworking Americans through these difficult times."

He also addressed Thursday's economic report, which showed that the economy grew at a rate of more than 33% in the third quarter as it continues to bounce back from a pandemic-related downturn.

What threaten the country's recovery, Trump said, are the policies of his Democrat opponent Joe Biden.

"The largest threat to our great American comeback is a Joe Biden presidency. Biden is running on a platform that would destroy all our economic progress," he wrote. "Biden has already failed at leading an economic recovery once when he presided over the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression when he was vice president."

Trump then rattled off portions of Biden's platform that he feels would bring down the U.S. economy, including his past statements on raising taxes, his "scare tactics" regarding Social Security, and the recent allegations that he has improper ties to China and Ukraine.

"This country has seen politicians like Biden before. He will surrender U.S. jobs to foreign countries, surrender our future to the virus, and surrender our country to the radical, socialist left," Trump wrote.

"America has already had to endure Biden's leadership once before, and it can't afford to do it again."
