Wesley Clark Endorses Hillary for President

Retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president in a fundraising email for the pro-Clinton PAC "Ready for Hillary"

"I know from personal experience that having a group of supporters ready to go before I even jumped into the race made a tough decision much easier," Clark, who sought the 2004 Democratic nomination, wrote in the email, according to the Hill.

“That’s exactly the message we need to send Hillary Clinton today. She needs to know that if she decides to run for president, then she’ll have an army of supporters behind her. I’m going to be Ready for Hillary. Will you be?”

Clark represents the second prominent Democrat to endorse Clinton in the last week. Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill was the first.

Clark lauded Clinton for her work as secretary of state during President Barack Obama's first term.

“When Hillary Clinton took over as secretary of state, America’s image around the globe was badly damaged. Since then, we’ve ended the war in Iraq. We’re winding down in Afghanistan. We decimated al-Qaida’s leadership and helped democracy grow in the Middle East," Clark said.

“Supporting Hillary is an easy decision for me. I know she’ll steer us straight at home and represent us right abroad. We all know that Hillary would make the best president for our country.”

Clark, who won the Oklahoma primary in 2004, also endorsed Clinton in her 2008 race against Obama.

Clinton has been non-committal about whether she will run and is now spending much of her time on paid speeches and another book.

Meanwhile, recent polls indicate that Clinton's popularity is declining. A Bloomberg survey conducted May 31 to June 3 shows that her favorability rating stands at 58 percent, down 12 points from December. The number of Americans who view her very unfavorably doubled to 22 percent from 11 percent during that period.
