Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on Wednesday called for the White House to release additional details about the president's recent interactions with Ukraine, CNN reports.

"We must learn what actions President Trump or his aides took to withhold congressionally directed security aid to Ukraine and why, and more besides," Schumer said on the floor of the Senate late Wednesday morning after the White House released a transcript of President Donald Trump's call with his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"We must remember the president was reported to have several calls with President Zelensky over the summer, and his reputation — and his administration has a well-earned reputation for dishonesty, altered facts, and incomplete disclosure in public releases. We need to see the complete, unredacted whistleblower complaint without further delay."

Earlier that day, Schumer tweeted: "If we don't reckon with President @realDonaldTrump's persistent transgressions, the very foundation of this republic is at risk. We need all the facts. I strongly support @SpeakerPelosi's decision" to launch a House impeachment inquiry.

Trump described his conversation with Zelensky as "a nothing call" on Wednesday, and described the impeachment inquiry as "the single greatest witch hunt in American history, probably in history, but in American history."
